The vice president for the economic and service cluster Dr. James Wani Igga over the weekend called on the people of western Equatoria state to embark on agriculture and make good use of all the resources they have for better development of the state.

Speaking at the residence of Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko Baime who is the state deputy governor and SPLM chairman in the state, Igga said the people of Western Equatoria state are hard-working people in the history of this country, many people have lost hope in the current economy of South Sudan.

“As people of Western Equatoria, you must have optimistic that development, economy, and service delivery to the community of this great state is around the corner as the president has approved the construction of Yambio, Wau highway which is now in progress and this will create more opportunities for the farmers to get access to the market and make Western Equatoria State a food basket of South Sudan.

Professor Igga further encouraged the people of Western Equatoria State to send their children to school, because knowledge is very important in South Sudan there are incapable people occupying positions which cannot move this country forward, according to Igga 80% of illiterate people live in South Sudan.

Dr. Igga also called on the teachers of government schools to go back to their teaching profession since the council of the minister has already approved the salary of teachers where the vice chancellor will be getting 1.2 million SSP.

Vice president Dr. Wani Igga added that for stability in South Sudan, there should be a rule of law and everyone should abide by it not only a few.

Finally, the 1st deputy chairman of the SPLM political party also said sports and inter-marriage should be supported in South Sudan because it's the only way that can unite and create everlasting peace among all the community of this country.

Vice president Dr. Wani Igga who was in Western Equatoria State to represent the president during the 1st anniversary of the restoration of the Azande Kingdom and also to train Western Equatoria state SPLM cadres on peacebuilding in South Sudan.
