Sacred Heart of Jesus Devotees Turns Outs in Large Numbers to Celebrate the Solemnity

The Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio over the years has capitalized on the development of devotional groups which gives her Christians forums on which to grow their faith and evangelize one another following in the footsteps of Saints affiliated to such devotional groups. Among the very popular devotional groups in the Diocese is the Sacred Heart Group.

It was against this background that hundreds of members of the Sacred Heart Group turned up at St. Mary Mother of God Parish in Yambio to celebrates the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus following three-day spiritual retreats held on their behalf at the same place.

Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala of Tombura-Yambio Diocese in his homily during the celebrations where hundreds of faithful gathered to renew their commitment to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, encouraged the congregants to discover the riches of charity hidden in the heart of Christ.

“Do not be afraid to present to Christ all the intentions of your suffering, fears, and miseries; also do not be afraid to present your joys, gratitude, and the desires of your heart. May this Heart of Christ, full of love for men, give everyone hope and trust,” Bishop Hiiboro said during the celebrations which were held on Sunday, June 13.

“I invite you to discover the riches that are hidden in the Heart of Jesus, to learn to love

your neighbor as you love yourselves,” Bishop Hiiboro expressed adding that the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has Christ’s unconditional love at its center, exemplified in the blood and water which poured forth from Christ’s heart in his sacrifice on the cross.

Bishop Hiiboro explained that Jesus often used trees and plants as symbols for God’s action; he, therefore, encouraged Christians in Yambio to embrace a culture of planting more trees as care for them so that they may bear fruits.

“Planting seeds is not enough; much work is required to promote growth and flourishing for plants. This is so too to our faith, it is not enough to be a believer in the Catholic faith, much more is required to promote the growth and flourishing of our faith and this is what such devotional groups as the Sacred Heart of Jesus are meant to do. Let us embrace these devotional groups so that we can rip the benefits that come with them.”
