As the International Prayer Days come to an end on Sunday 5th January 2024 organized by the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio (CDTY) at the three border points in Holy Spirit Midwest Deanery Ezo and St Gabriel Kodati Chapel that brought together four Countries namely South Sudan, Central Africa Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda under the Theme “May they all be one, Mt 17: 11”, Rev. Fr. Thomas Bagbiowia called on the faithful to seek Jesus with their problems, and queries as he is the only answer.
“Jesus is the answer to our problems, he is responsible for all our needs both spiritual and physical, the need for peace and instabilities, that all should remain submissive to him, he will answer us all that we need.”
The International prayers were officially opened on Thursday 1st February 2024 and the participants underwent Spiritual teachings, deliverance prayers, healing prayers, and adoration among others. These annual prayers intend to bring together the three countries to pray and be straightened in the word of God to establish peaceful coexistence, love, and unity as the family of God since both Countries have experienced a series of instabilities for which only God can be the answer and bring everlasting peace, love, and unity to his people.
In the CDTY the prayers were attended by Western Deanery Tombura, Holy Spirit Deanery Ezo, Holy Cross Deanery Nzara, and Central Deanery Yambio, while Dungu-Doruma Diocese from DRC, Diocese of Bangasu from Central Africa Republic and Catholic Charismatic Renewal from Uganda were present.
On behalf of the County Commissioner for Ezo County, the County Executive Director Mr. Thomas Tumo passed the regards of the County Commission who is away on duty who through a telephone conversation with the executive Director promised to bring development to the area as he called on his fellow friends on the other sides to build and sustain peace and work together for peaceful co-existence as neighbors. He therefore promised to do his best to bring the necessary development in the area as he called on the local community not to tolerate the anti-development agents.
The Episcopal Vicar Rev. Fr. William Abash Gamboripai thanked all the organizers of the event, including his fellow priests from different Deaneries of the CDTY who made the occasion successful. He equally thanked those who contributed Spiritually and materially and prayed for God’s blessing upon each of them. Rev. Fr. William reiterated early preparation for next year’s program as the prayers will be organized every year in January.
All went well since singing and homily were shared in both Pazande, English, Arabic, Sango, and Lingala for a better understanding of the attendance. Government officials, local leaders, and church leaders from both Countries were at the occasion to make the day more successful.
