By Seminarian Mubie Benty.
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio (CDTY), Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, conducted a half-day workshop on Friday January16th, 2025 for 15 CDTY major seminarians currently studying theology in Uganda. The seminarians, spending their Christmas holidays at Munyenga Arua House, a diocesan-owned residence, gathered for this inspiring workshop that emphasized personal growth and pastoral readiness.
The seminarians are enrolled in three prominent seminaries: St. Mary’s National Major Seminary, Ggaba, St. Mbagga Seminary, and St. Paul’s National Major Seminary, Kinyamasika. Among them, four are in their final year of theology, while eleven are in their first year.
During the workshop, Bishop Hiiboro encouraged the seminarians to set 100 personal life goals to guide their journey. These goals were grouped into six vital areas including; Personal Spiritual Goals, Academic and Theological Goals, Personal Development and Character Building, Pastoral Goals, Social Action and Community Engagement, Leadership and Vocational Goals.
Bishop also shared with the Seminarians deep reflections on life and vocation asking the Seminarians to recognize the privilege of life as a gift from God and live with purpose, understand their destiny as beginning and ending with God, who is the source of all endeavours, to embrace Jesus Christ as their ultimate role model, imitating His life and mission, and finally to reflect on how they can effectively serve the diocese, Western Equatoria State, and South Sudan, given the unique challenges and opportunities of their time.
The prelate further urged the Seminarians to nurture a culture of positivity, encouraging them to speak positively about one another and support each other in their vocational journeys.
