Bishop Hiiboro Appreciates Catholic Women Association for Supporting his Work
Rt. Rev. Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio has expressed appreciation to the Catholic Women Association in his diocese for mobilizing resources to support him in his ministry during this year of work.
Bishop Hiiboro in January this year proclaimed the year 2021 as the Year of Work in his diocese with the theme: Bible in one hand and a hoe in the other. The dedication of the Year 2021 to Work is meant to encourage Christians to build their church premises as well as engage in extensive agricultural activities in order to eradicate poverty in the diocese as well as preserve the environment.
It was therefore against this backdrop that the Catholic Women Association which was however started outside the diocese in Wau but predominantly of the Diocese of Tombura-Yambio organized a reception for Bishop Hiiboro and brought him gifts to support his initiative for the Year of Work.
“Apparently, from the time I pronounced the year 2021 as Year of Work, the Women Association members, the majority of who are just ordinary South Sudanese women from humble backgrounds started mobilizing resources to assist me in my ministry,” Bishop Hiiboro told Rurugene Online News adding that the gesture was truly humbling and quite encouraging.
“They decided to prepare gifts and donations to assist me and among the items they brought was money amounting to about US$ 500 and also about 200,000 South Sudanese Pound,” the Bishop disclosed saying that the money has been put at the service of the diocesan seminaries especially the major Seminary to purchase some of the materials required there.
The gifts were presented to Bishop on 16th February in Tombura and the delegation that presented the gift to the Bishop requested blessings which Bishop Hiiboro was much obliged to give. Among them was also a young child who also received the blessings.
“I thank them so much and I appreciate the fact that women can get organized this much and think of supporting their shepherd in his activities for the diocese. I am therefore very grateful to them and pray that the Lord who made them think of my work may bless them and their families abundantly.”
Since the pronouncement of the year 2021 as the year of work, Bishop Hiiboro has been busy leading by an example wherein a number of parishes he has led brick making initiatives for the building of Church houses as well as renovations of old church premises. One of his recent activities was when he led the opening of feeder roads to connect eleven parishes in his diocese.
