As the world celebrates International Women’s Way, women who work in Curia, the Bishop resident have called on men to consider women’s empowerment through the provision of education so that women become competent to compete with men in leadership positions.

Mrs. Veronica Michael the manager of women and family under the Catholic organization for peace and development said, women’s empowerment is key to eradicating poverty in society.

Mrs. Veronica applauded the Bishop of CDTY for being gender sensitive in appointing women to serve in key positions in the Church organizations.

“I give thanks to the Diocese for considering women, and creating an office for women. Now for us women to give more positions, let us go to school, let us not remain with the few certificates we have, let us continue to increase our knowledge in order to compute together with men”. Veronica added

However, the director of CODEP Fr. Mbikoyo Charles said women are very important and deserve more respect in society, saying men should honor their wives and accord them full human rights. Fr. Charles said the Catholic organization for peace and development [CODEP] is implementing gender equity because women are valued at work.

On the other hand, the human resource manager of CODEP Mr. Ondrande Tako, described women’s day as a symbol that tells women to have the right to serve at different levels, citing that CODEP is implementing the policy of women’s empowerment because it is cable to recruit women into managerial positions.

Every year on the 8th of March, International Women's Day is celebrated to commemorate and honor women's accomplishments, raise awareness about gender disparities and discrimination, as well as to promote global support for women.
