The King of the Azande kingdom has called on the Azande people to prioritize culture as the Kingdom set to stage its first anniversary on 9th February 2023
His majesty Atoroba Peni Rikito Gbudue reveals that celebrating traditions helps people grounded in their culture while adapting to a new one citing that anniversary is an important part of life.
Atoroba explained that “some like to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries annually, while others only celebrate significant dates such as reaching 40 years of age, why not to observe 9th February 2023 as important to the Azande Kingdom”?
He explained that preparations are in high gear to mark the day, and chiefs and other organizing committees are performing their duties respectively, adding that the Azande people from the diaspora should work jointly in peace and respect to one another in order to celebrate the day.
His highness urged the different communities living within the Azande Kingdom to prepare themselves with traditional dances, “you have to be ready to celebrate the day in your culture, the Kingdom does not segregate or exclude other tradition norms, come so that we enjoy the day together” the King said.
The restoration of the Azande Kingdom was done on 9th Feb 2022 after the death of His Royal Majesty King Gbudue on 9th Feb 1905.
