Yambio Football Association Appeals for Farming Land Allocation from State Authorities

The President of the Yambio Local Football Association, Mr. Joseph Ndende Ndepi, has appealed to state authorities to allocate farming land to the association. This unusual request aims to diversify the association's activities beyond football and foster self-sustainability within the local sports community.

Yambio, a town known for its vibrant football culture, has seen Mr. Ndepi advocate passionately for the association's expansion into Agriculture. “When I see the mayor, I see land, I see empty spaces, I see demarcation and, where there is going to be another demarcation, put in your mind that we are passing our request for an empty land, we want to embark on agriculture as football actors, but we don’t have land”, Ndepi urged.

This proposal came amidst challenges the Local Sports Associations face in generating consistent revenue streams. The Association plans to cultivate crops that could not only supplement its operational costs but also enhance community engagement through agricultural projects.

Mr. Joseph Ndende Ndepi noted that the initiative aims to enable the football entity to venture into agriculture, potentially transforming its sustainability and community impact.

The event, attended by local football enthusiasts and dignitaries, provided a fitting platform for Mr. Ndepi to outline his vision for the association's future. "We are not just here to celebrate football prowess but also to advocate for a more resilient future for our association," remarked Mr. Ndepi.

Highlighting the challenges faced by local sports associations in sustaining their operations solely through traditional means, Mr. Ndepi emphasized the need for innovative approaches. "By engaging in farming alongside football activities, we can diversify our revenue streams and create a more stable financial foundation," he explained.

The launch of the fifth edition of the Yambio inter-area tournament saw Akorogbodi one residential area the defending champions taking on the Kpirabe residential area in the opening at Yambio Freedom Square.  Akorogbodi won by two goals to one against Kpirabe.
