Hon. Abel Sudan, the County Commissioner of Ezo, said that South Sudan stands to benefit from the coffee plantation initiative launched in Ezo County with 25,000 seedlings already planted.
“The primary goal of this project is to create job opportunities for the communities of Ezo, neighboring counties, and South Sudan as a whole,”.
Hon. Abel Mutua
Earlier this year, Commissioner Abel Sudan introduced the plantation of cash crops in Ezo County, beginning with 35,000 coffee seedlings. Currently, 25,000 of these seedlings have reached various stages of growth, marking a significant step forward in the initiative.
The Commissioner also revealed that the remaining 10,000 seedlings were purchased by Maridi County and distributed among church leaders and community members in Ezo, aiming to expand the initiative further and boost future productivity.
Looking ahead, Commissioner Abel disclosed plans to extend the project to all payams and bomas under Ezo County. “We are planning for local leaders to plant 50,000 cash crops each to create more opportunities for the youth in Ezo County,” he added.
In addition to the coffee plantation, the communities of Ezo have also cultivated beans to expand agricultural development in the region.
