The Christian community of Ave Maria Parish in Source Yubu Payam, Tombura County, South Sudan, marked a significant milestone on 8th Sunday 2024, celebrating 100 years of faith with a joyous and reflective ceremony.

Bishop Gabriel Zuber Wako called upon the Christian to start the revolution of unity, love, transcend ethnic divides and foster an inclusive united society.

In his homily, Bishop Wako posed a critical question to the congregation, especially to community leaders saying, “How do you succeed in passing faith to the young ones, and how have you stood by that faith?” He underscored the importance of nurturing the Christian faith among the youth and urged leaders to ensure its enduring strength and relevance.

Addressing pressing national issues, Bishop Wako condemned tribalism as a destructive force, boldly stressing that “Tribalism destroys South Sudan”.

Bishop Wako emphasized that this milestone was not only a time for reflection but also an opportunity to recommit to living authentically Christian lives. “You need to begin living the life of Christianity as you celebrate 100 years of faith”.

Dignitaries in attendance included the Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Angelo Beda, state MPs, the Tombura County Commissioner, and clergy from the Archdiocese of Central Equatoria State and Yei Diocese.
