Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio Ordains Seven Priests and Six Deacons amidst Centennial Celebration
The Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio (CDTY) witnessed a significant moment in its history on Saturday, December 7, 2024, with the ordination of seven deacons into the priesthood and six seminarians into the diaconate. The ordination ceremony took place as the diocese celebrated the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Ave Maria Ngboko Parish, located in Source Yubu Payam of Tombura County.
Among the newly ordained priests are Deacon Wenengbi Moses, Deacon Emmanuel Chukwunwike Anosike, a Nigerian national, Deacon Victor Sende, Deacon William Zaravasio, Deacon Emmanuel Usumo, Deacon Makana Tito, and Deacon Felix Anand Assisi, who hails from India.
The six seminarians raised to the diaconate include Seminarian Paul Yangadapai, Seminarian Nwanga Oliver, Seminarian Godwill Tambua, Seminarian Fortunato Koudu, Seminarian Simon Mbikoyo, and Seminarian Ugwuanyi Malachy Chijioke, a Nigerian.
The ordination ceremony was held amidst the centennial celebration of Ave Maria Ngboko Parish, a landmark event in the history of the diocese. The parish, located in the heart of Tombura County.
In his homily during the ordination Mass, Bishop Mathias Konig, the Auxiliary Bishop of Paderborn of Germany, praised the candidates for their dedication to the priestly and diaconal vocations, urging the newly ordained to serve with humility, compassion, and a deep commitment to the people of God.
The ordination was con-joined by the two bishops of the Catholic diocese of Tombura-Yambio and the Auxiliary Bishop of Paderborn of Germany.
“Believe what you read, believe what you teach and teach what you believe”.
The event was attended by clergy, religious, and lay faithful from across the diocese, who gathered to witness the historic event and South Sudanese politicians.
