“Need for consistence Training for Young Girls in Yambio”

Over 18 teenage girls who were recently detained by Police in Yambio for allegedly deserted their parents’ home and decide to stay in a group has received sanitary pads on Monday July, 18th 2022 , the support was given by a group of concerned women who hailed from Yambio, western Equatoria State but based in Juba.
Speaking after the distribution Ms. Janet Binza says there is need of consistence trainings for the young girls such that they can be able to grow well, adding that “most of these girls lack parental care” urging the organizations dealing with psychosocial support and well-wishers to offer support to the girls.
The teenage girls were later released from Yambio Police custody and handed over to the state ministry of Gender, Child and social Welfare of South Sudan, Western Equatoria State.
Ms. Veronica Anne, director general of the State ministry of Gender Child, and social welfare of Western Equatoria State confirmed that “there is a change in the life of the girls after her ministry received them”, she called upon the willing partners to support the girls especially on education sector.
On June 29th 2022, More than thirty five parents and church members held a consultative meeting to protect children in the community in Western Equatoria State. The meeting was initiated by the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kusala with community key leaders, government officials, some church members and youth representative, at Catholic Church, Saint Mary Parish in Yambio to deliberate on how to protect children against drugs and other harmful behaviors that is in increase in Western Equatoria.
