Caritas South Sudan Enhances CODEP's Operations with Safeguarding Policy Training

Caritas South Sudan on Tuesday 13th, July 2024 held a one-day training session in Curia aimed at enhancing organizational operations and safeguarding practices for Catholic Organization for Peace and Development (CODEP) staff and managers.

The training focused on the Caritas safeguarding policy, is designed to ensure that CODEP aligns with the Catholic Church's guidelines for protecting individuals and maintaining ethical standards.
The session was facilitated by the Director of South Sudan Caritas Mr. Charles Ayai, who provided comprehensive insights into the safeguarding policy applicable to Catholic institutions, including the protection of children and vulnerable groups.
Charles Ayai, the facilitator emphasizes the importance of these practices in daily operations, underlining their critical role in upholding the organization's mission and ensuring a safe working environment. He discussed “Employee policy such as fair treatment of employees, equality in the organization, child protection and child save guarding” while executing a project targeting children
In his closing remarks, Bishop Edwardo Hiiboro Kusala, President of South Sudan Caritas, concluded the training by underscoring the significance of the policy in shaping CODEP's operations.
Bishop Hiiboro reiterates that the Catholic Bishops' Conference adopted the safeguarding policy as an essential tool for Catholic institutions, aimed at improving organizational performance and protecting staff and beneficiaries.
Fr. Charles Mbikoyo, the director of CODEP, praised the training as a vital resource for enhancing the organization's effectiveness. He stressed the practical application of the knowledge gained to ensure that safeguarding principles are integrated into CODEP's everyday activities.
