Bodies of Five Uganda killed in South Sudan arrives back home
Five bodies of Ugandans who died in South Sudan under two different circumstances have finally been brought home. The vehicles carrying the bodies arrived at the Elegu border on Wednesday, March 31st at 6: 23 pm.
They were received from Nimule by delegations from Uganda led by the Aswa Regional police commander SP, Kaija Stephen at the “no man’s land’’ along with Uganda – South Sudan border amidst security deployment from both sides.
The five bodies brought to Uganda in a South Sudan ambulance and Noah in a convoy of 17 vehicles include those of the four taxi drivers from Koboko (Amati Steven of Maracha district, Dada Gadaffi, Ali Sonni, and Sadam Andama) killed at Ganji in Lanya county – South Sudan on Sunday, March 28th.
The fifth body is of a boda boda operator and resident of the Terego district who died in an alleged motor accident in Juba
The bodies were transferred to Uganda by vehicles at Elegu where they were escorted to Koboko by a team of over 30 vehicles and countless motorcycles ferrying mourners and reached Koboko at around 2:30 am on Thursday morning.
They were taken for post mortem in Koboko at Gborokolongo health center III in Abuku Sub County before handing them over to their respective families for burial.
According to coordinated information from the security team, the bodies of the four truck drivers thought to be from Uganda’s central region were all recovered by South Sudan forces and taken to Juba awaiting clearance before they can be brought back to the country.
