Amici di Padre Hiiboro is an Association that was founded in 2004 by Don Fernando Zulian, former Parish Priest of Vila Franca in Padova Italy where Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro of CDTY worked as an assistant parish priest during the time he was undertaking his studies in Italy between 2001 and 2006. The association was formed to help raise funds for the then Fr. Hiiboro and has continued to support him in his mission even as he now serves as a bishop.

Although Don Fernando has since passed on, the current parish priest Don Giuseppe Alberto has continued with the same legacy by raising resources to support Bishop Hiiboro (Padre Hiiboro) as they call him up to date even though he is a bishop. It was against this background that the association donated five (5) brand new motorcycle Boxers and three bicycles to CODEP to help facilitate staff movement during their daily running of office activities.

The motorcycles were given to the departments of Land and Assets, Media, Youth and Culture, Humekodabee na Bera, Curia kitchen, and youth ministry whereas two of the bicycles were given to the logistics department and one to service staff.

Ngbanisa David Ariyo, the Deputy Director of CODEP advised the departments that received the donations to make better use of them as well as take good care of them. He added that it is important to prioritizing and support the diocese in good faith as requested by the administration. He reminded them that if any of these motorcycles and bicycles got major technical problem while on official duty, it will be the responsibility of the organization to repair and fix it; but if the problem occurred when one is on a private duty, then the individual should repair and fix it at his/her cost. A similar call was made by Kubako James, the Diocesan logistic.

Ndukayo Dominic, the secretary of finance at the diocese told Rurugene News that the

handing over of the motorcycles was done very officially as those who received them had to signed documents committing themselves to take good care of them as well as to guarantee that the user must be for office work.

Ndukayo indicated that there has been misuse of means of transport meant for the office work where individuals responsible could divert the resources to private and personal use. This was because there were no documents being signed to guarantee official use only.

Rev. Tombe Charles, the acting Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio who presided over the handover ceremony and blessed the means advised the staff to make sure to pray for safety while using the motorcycles and the bicycles. He also urged them to uphold integrity and honesty while on duty and in society because the good Lord demands everyone to do so.

All staff from Curia assembled and attended the handover ceremony, clapped, and cheered their fellows while receiving the motorcycles.

Bishop Hiiboro expressed immense gratitude to Parishioners of Santa Cecilia, Villa Franca in Padova, Italy for the support they have given him and his diocese. He said that the motorbikes and the bicycles were going to make the work more efficient at the different offices of the diocese. He assured them of continuous prayers and support.
