Mr. Simon Mikanipare the Coordinator of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio in South Sudan appealed to all Kenyans to “tune their minds towards peaceful election”. “I appeal and submit my humble request to all Kenyans to tune their minds towards peaceful elections and smooth transitions for peaceful coexistence” he said.

With less than three months to the election, Mikanipare who is specialized in international relationship, peace building and conflict resolution advised Kenyans to take election moments as time for exercising their rites and not as a tool for violence, “Let us not take election to be a tool of violence but a tool of exercising your rites”. He continued, “Let us not see scenario where by  violence breaks , all shops closed, no “juakali” (the informal jobs that people do to earn money) work to get bread of the day , no school, no church, no free movement, just see how big setback it can bring after all what you have done up to this level”.

Referencing history that Kenya has held many leaders including Pope, Mr. Mikanipare said “it’s high time for you Kenyans to get to your room, to pray, to seek Gods blessings and peace upon Kenya before voting.” He further asked Kenyans to work “collectively for unity, to collaborate and understand each other in order to build Kenya to the fullest”.

In his message, he asked Kenyans to be good ambassadors for South Sudan, “remember South Sudan will soon go to election, but once Kenyans election misses the right road it will confuse South Sudan and all of us will fall into pain and agony for life. So please Kenyans be good ambassadors for South Sudan because we shall copy what you will do, please I beg, do good to save us”, he pleaded.
