A number of Parishioners at St. Biaka Parish Banduguyo gathered in the afternoon of 7th, Monday 2023 to witness the launching of a borehole construction at the parish compound action that they believe will end the shortage of water.

“The only dilapidated borehole near the Church was rehabilitated two years ago, so we in the Parish here face it hard to get water for both drinking and for our work in the Church and at home”, Jacob Edward a catechist at St. Biaka Parish Banduguyo narrated.

The population of Banduguyo Boma has access to a single borehole which is already in a dilapidated state. Some of the parishioners who spoke to the Rurugene newsletter stated that life in the area has become a challenge given the shortage of water sources.

” It can take you 5 minutes to fill a single jerrican on this borehole, this challenge has forced most of us here to move far distance where there is a well in order to get water”.

So far CODEP has launched construction of water projects in six selected areas experiencing a scarcity of water. The digging of the water points (Wash project), is an initiative of the Catholic organization for development (CODEP) with funding from the Sudan relief fund.
