On August 15th Bishop Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala presided over a solemn Mass at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of St. Mary catholic church, commemorating the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady Mary Mother of God. The celebration drew a large crowd of faithful, highlighting the importance of this significant event in the Catholic tradition.
In his homily, Bishop Hiiboro eloquently spoke about the deep faith of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
He noted that Mary's unwavering trust in God’s plan serves as a powerful example for Christians today stressing that “Mary’s yes to God changed the course of history”, through her acceptance and faith, she became the mother of our Savior.
Bishop encouraged the congregation to reflect on their faith journeys, urging them to embrace trust in God, even in challenging times. Adding that like Mary, they too could find strength through prayer and devotion.
Bishop Hiiboro highlighted several ways in which parishioners could follow Mary’s example, he continued “Mary’s humility is a cornerstone of her character”, encouraging the faithful to also guide their actions with modesty and respect for others.
“Mary’s life was marked by selfless service”, on this the prelate challenged the congregation to seek opportunities to serve their communities.
He stressed the importance of a robust prayer life, and regular prayer, like Mary’s Magnificat, which nurtures a deeper relationship with God.
The local ordinary of CDTY reminded everyone that faith often involves trusting in God, even when the path ahead is unclear.
