Ave Maria Ngboko parish of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio to celebrate 100years since the establishment of a cross that was installed in the center of the future mission at the heart foot of an image of the Sacred Heart and the Madonna of Pompi on 30th March 1923.
The launching of the Centenary will be on May 1st, 2023 during the feast of St Joseph the worker, and patron saint of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio, and the ending of the Centenary will be on December 8th, 2024, feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Speaking to Anisa Radio, Rev. Fr Avellino Bosols Rhinfelder the episcopal vicar of Western deanery in CDTY explained that, “during this one and a half year, we expect to have retreats, recollection, and workshop for different movements but also for the traders, footballers, musicians, comedians, security forces and anybody who is somehow involved in the rebuilding the society in Western Equatoria state”.
Avellino says prayers will be prioritized during the Centenary, praying the Holy Rosary and also bringing different people together adding that Ave Maria is not the shrine for Azande but rather for the people of western Equatoria and South Sudan as a whole.
The missionary priest narrates that even though Western Equatoria has been evangelized 100 years later, people are still looking for comfort after conflict, violence, poverty, and the lack of proper schools, citing that this centenary will bring the whole Western Equatoria together and beyond.
The bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio His Lordship Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala during his peace mission to greater Tambura announces the centenary to Christians over and over again urging them to prepare for the historical moment in their lives.
