In the heart of Ngboko, as the rains grace the land with abundance, so too does the arrival of dedicated eye doctors, heralding a new chapter in the community's journey towards improved healthcare.
“Greetings, from Ngboko. The good news, is we have received plenty of rain. The other good news is eye doctors arrived on Friday in Tombura”, Fr. Avelino said.
Last Friday marked a pivotal moment as eye specialists descended upon Tombura. Their mission is to address the pressing issue of eye health that has long plagued the region. The response was overwhelming as countless patients presented themselves for screening, each carrying with them a story of discomfort and diminished sight.
Fr. Avelino explained that a total of 63 individuals were identified as candidates for further intervention. Among them, 42 were deemed in immediate need of surgical intervention to reclaim their vision.
“They selected 63, and 42 definitively for operation, the rest need further examination”.
With efficiency and compassion, preparations swiftly unfolded. The theater was readied, logistics arranged, and patients transported from near and far. Even the challenges posed by inclement weather failed to dampen the spirits of the dedicated professionals who remained undeterred in their mission.
“The eye doctors returned yesterday late from Ezo amidst heavy rain. They have brought in patients from both Ezo and Nandi for the operation”.
The journey from screening to surgery is collaboration and commitment, with every step inching closer to restoring the gift of sight to those in need. In distant Ezo and Nandi, the same scene unfolds as teams set out to extend their healing touch to even more communities.
Fr. Avelino acknowledged that Dr. Bati’s invaluable guidance and tireless efforts have not only aided in the organization of the health center but have also served as a beacon of inspiration to all involved. Through his expertise and dedication, the path toward sustainable healthcare delivery becomes clearer, paving the way for lasting change.
“By the way, Dr. Bati is very helpful. He has given us many very valuable advice for the health center and helped to organize the pharmacy”, Fr. Avelino said.
In Ngboko, amidst the rain-soaked streets and the bustling of everyday life, a transformation is underway. It is a transformation fueled by compassion, driven by dedication, and illuminated by the promise of a better tomorrow. And as the first incisions are made, let us stand united in the belief that through unity and perseverance, anything is possible.
