To promote awareness and education on menstrual health and hygiene, LM International last Friday 31st May 2024 organized a special event at Yambio Gangura Payam. The event held on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Day under the theme, “together period friendly”, aimed to break the stigma surrounding menstruation and provide essential information to school children.

The event began with interactive sessions led by experts in the field, who addressed common misconceptions and provided practical tips for maintaining good menstrual hygiene.

Speaking at the event the LM international coordinator in Western Equatoria State, Morris calls on parents and guardians to ensure their daughters remain at school by providing them with sanitary pads.

“We believe that educating young girls and boys about menstrual health and hygiene is crucial in breaking the silence and taboos surrounding menstruation,” Morris said.

One of the highlights of the day was a message shared among the attendees, symbolizing solidarity and support for individuals menstruating. This simple yet powerful gesture helped foster a sense of community and understanding.

On the other hand, UNICEF's representation noted that the Menstrual period is a normal routine in girls, and calls for a joint effort to support school girls with the necessary needs to keep them at school.
