On Monday 14th, November 2022, at Yabongo Primary school, Red Cross South Sudan, Yambio branch officially opened the inter-school debate competition for secondary schools between Abangite College of Science and Technology and King’s College School.
Speaking to Anisa FM during the official opening of the competition, Mr. Singira Robert, the head of the branch for South Sudan Red Cross Yambio reiterated that the organization under the food security, resilience, and peaceful co-existence project, has formed peace clubs in schools.
Mr. Singira further stated that debates and dramas on peace-related topics will help the students to understand peace right from childhood and then as they grow, they will be growing as people who love themselves, who live together, and not always fight and quarrel.
“Red Cross is grateful because for us we encourage peaceful co-existence and we support those who are in need and therefore you are the people we need to work with as we begin to cultivate peace at your level,” Singira told the students.
On his part, Mr. Elias Bii, the organizer of the inter-school debate competition for secondary schools and also the food security and livelihood officer for South Sudan Red Cross, Yambio branch thanked the administration of Abangite College and Kings College for participating in the competition.
The Chief Judge of the competition, Madam Laker Eunice declared King’s College as the winner with 434 points while Abangite got 425 points. King’s college qualifies for the final interschool debate competition for secondary schools that will take place on Thursday 17, November 2022, at the Yambio cultural center.
