CODEP, Sudan Relief Funds Discuss ways to Improve Services at St. Theresa Hospital

  Fr. Charles Mbikoyo, the director for the Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CODEP), said that there has been fruitful discussion, with its partner the Sudan relief funds during last week meeting in Juba to improve services at St. Theresa Hospital in Nzara County.

  The director said the meeting that was attended by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio also discussed ways to strengthen working relation between CODEP and Sudan relief funds.

  Father Charles assured people on his return from Juba that the Diocese is working around the clock to ensure communities get access to health as it complement government’s effort.

“We are grateful to the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio for his continues effort looking for partners, donors and friends to move St. Theresa Hospital a head.  Actually we need the hospital to care for the sick to treat various diseases that are in this part of South Sudan, we discussed also the needs, like the need to build confidence in our people who have experienced violence to see how they can be supported in all areas of education, humanitarian, agriculture”, he added.

Nzara Hospital

  The hospital provides general, maternal, child and infant medical care. It specializes in TB, HIV/AIDS and Leprosy treatment. Major illnesses are malaria, gastrointestinal disorders and complications arising from TB and HIV/AIDS. Nzara has an Antiretroviral Therapies (ART) Clinic and Medical Ward.

  St. Theresa Nzara Hospital was established in 1963, as a break away from Rirangu Health facility and became the first hospital in Western Equatoria Region managed by the Comboni Missionary Sisters.
