At the celebration of the Chrism Mass in the Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio (CDTY) on Tuesday, April 4th, the presiding prelate underscored the need of praying for the priest, loving them, helping them materially, and be close to them at all times.

The Mass was celebrated on Tuesday and not Thursday since the diocese is large and parishes are far therefore this was to allow priests to have ample time to arrive at their parishes before Holy Thursday.

In his homily at St, Mary Mother of God Yambio, bishop Hiiboro stated that Jesus instituted the priestly ministry long ago, and the priest in CDTY continues with the legacy of Jesus. He called upon all the faithful to see Jesus in them.

“Legacy of Jesus Christ is what we see today in priests. Jesus Instituted the priestly ministry since long time ago among different people but this legacy has come up to Yambio as we can see in the priests present among us here”.

He added that “as we celebrate today's feast in which the priests are renewing their promises and commitment, we need to remember that the high priest Jesus Christ Instituted this ministry by choosing the ordinary people who were doing their ordinary works and it is the same that continues up to today whereby all priests are called from among men to be set apart for a special job”.

Attended by clergy of CDTY and the faithful, the local ordinary of CDTY noted that “God who is the Creator created us all through His beloved Son Jesus Christ out of love. And this love didn't end with the creation but He continues to guide us and be with us all time”.
