Bishop Launches Coffee Plantation at Solidarity Teachers Training College.
On 9th April 2021, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio Rt. Rev. Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala launched a coffee plantation exercise at Solidarity Teachers Training College in Yambio.
Because of his passion for the plantation of coffee and trees, both for economic gains and preservation of the environment, Bishop Hiiboro decide to go to the college and asked both students and the college administration to take part in an initiative that is deemed to keep the environment intact and protected for now and for the future generations just like the institution which is preparing teachers to be in charge of the children for now and for the future.
“Good citizens are those who know the importance of preserving their environment for the benefit of their country; good citizens are those who know how to preserve the riches and the resources of their country; this exercise, therefore, was meant to send signals that this year 2021 is the year of work,” Bishop Hiiboro expressed adding that among the many activities as the rainy season begins now around the diocese of Tombura-Yambio, is that all families, diocesan institutions, all parishes, administrations and faithful throughout the diocese to embark hugely on planting more coffee trees this year than they did last year.
“It is mandatory that every Catholic, every Christian family, every citizen should take upon themselves this obligation of plantation of coffee and trees for this is what will secure our future economy,” Bishop Hiiboro urged.
He explained that the exercise was launched in honor of teachers encouraging them to move forward to educate children who will continue planting trees. “So Laudato Si of the Holy Father Pope Francis is here being put into practice,” he concluded.
