The Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State and the Chairman of the State SPLM, Hon. Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, has called for an end to tribalism in the region.

Speaking to the media from his residence on Sunday morning, Hon. Badagbu emphasized the need for unity among the citizens of Western Equatoria, particularly between the Azande and Balanda communities, who have experienced years of division.

Having recently returned to the state, Hon. Badagbu stated that his top priority is fostering peace and reconciliation, especially in the Greater Tambura area, which suffered heavily during the Tambura conflicts. He vowed to collaborate closely with Governor Alfred Futiyo and other state leaders to address the issue of tribalism and promote good governance.

"I am committed to stopping tribalism in Western Equatoria State. The Azande and Balanda people have lived together peacefully before, and we must rebuild that harmony," said Hon. Badagbu.

He cautioned the youth against being manipulated by politicians who incite violence for personal gain. "Young people should reject bribes and avoid engaging in hate speech and violence. Instead, they should focus on opportunities for development," he advised.

To address the crisis in Tambura County, Hon. Badagbu announced plans to establish a county emergency response aimed at disarming individuals and fostering unity. "Some youth have turned on their own people, killing them in cold blood. We must correct this by removing harmful weapons like pangas and knives from the community," he declared.

The Deputy Governor also promised to tour all ten counties of Western Equatoria State, with Tambura County as his initial focus. "My presence in the state government will bring immediate change. I will work with the Governor, ministers, parliamentarians, and other stakeholders to establish a system of good governance," he assured the public.

Hon. Badagbu urged the state government to listen to the needs of its people and restore the peaceful coexistence that once characterized Western Equatoria State.
