In a bid to foster unity and stability among peacekeepers and the community of Yambio, the Western Equatoria State Basketball Association All Stars clashed with the UNMISS All Stars in an exhilarating match, with scores ending at 34-36 in favor of the UNMISS team.

Head of the Western Equatoria basketball squad, Mr. Jackson Francis Sende, emphasized the importance of investing in basketball across the state. He urged the National Basketball Association to expedite the completion of the Yambio basketball court, asserting that it would not only enhance the sport but also serve as a platform to identify and nurture hidden talent within the region.

Sende highlighted the significance of such matches in promoting peace and camaraderie among different groups, including peacekeepers and the local community. He reiterated the role of sports in bridging divides and fostering understanding among diverse groups.

Additionally, Sende encouraged the youth to consider basketball as a viable alternative to football, emphasizing the opportunities it presents for personal growth, community engagement, and skill development.

He however stressed the need for greater participation in basketball teams, believing it to be a pathway towards unity and empowerment within the community.
