On 16th October 2024, in an inspiring initiative at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, Diabio, the Shalom Christian Organization launched a tailoring training program to uplift local women and foster growth within the community. Rev. Fr. Wasi Benjamin, the parish priest and Director of Shalom Christian Organization, extended his sincere gratitude to his longtime friends, the Movimento Shalom, for their generous donation of six new sewing machines that made the program possible.
Fr. Wasi emphasized that the goal of this initiative is to empower women to become self-reliant, equipping them with the skills to provide for their families, ensure food security, and support their children’s education. "This is about giving women the tools they need to build a brighter future for themselves and their families," Fr. Wasi passionately shared.
The new sewing machines were blessed by Fr. Simon Mizeredi, the parish priest of Sts. Peter and Paul, at a ceremony attended by the Chief, Payam Administrator, army commander of Diabio, and other guests. Fr. Wasi’s initiative of this project reflects a shepherd's deep love for his flock, showing a commitment to nurture the spiritual growth of his parishioners and attend to their material needs, thereby embodying the Gospel call to serve with compassion and action, and more so, a step forward for the parish, heralding hope, opportunity, and a stronger, more self-sustaining future for the community.
