CODEP Humanitarian Team in Ezo Distribute Farming Tools and Seeds to IDPs

The humanitarian department under the Catholic organization for development and Peace (CODEP) has sent a team of humanitarian workers to Ezo County to distribute farming tools and seeds to internal displaced people who fled from conflict in Tombura County.
Speaking to Rurugene team on Wednesday the manager for humanitarian response at CODEP Mr. Ngbanisa David Ariyo said the distribution of the items was supported by Caritas South Sudan targeting 98 households of IDPs.
“Our main aim here is to empower this people (IDPs) give them tools and seed. They have enough land so they can cultivate, in three to four months’ time they will be able to cater for their families not again looking for relief carrying by people from outside” Mr. David said
The tools comprised of hoes, machetes, slashes, axes and racks meanwhile the seeds include groundnuts, maize, cabbages, and okra among others.
Mr. Ngbasani David said some traders who hailed from Ezo County had entrusted the department of humanitarian of CODEP to distribute some basic items they contributed to help the IDPs. The basic items include second hand clothes, salt, sugar and laundry soaps.
In late 2021 violence conflict erupted in Tombura County between armed youth who were according to a report divided based on tribal line and powered by strong politicians hailed from Tombura County.
The conflict displaced 80,000 households to nearby Counties of Ezo, Nzara and Yambio, others fled to Wau town of Western Bahar El Ghazal seeking safety.
