Prime Suspect in the murder of Three Siblings in Juba Apprehended

Police have named the prime suspect in the murder of three siblings in Juba. Twenty-four-year-old Babu Emmanuel Lokiri, a fourth-year medical student at the University of Juba was arrested on Sunday in Rock City.

Police have named the prime suspect in the murder of three siblings in Juba. Twenty-four-year-old Babu Emmanuel Lokiri, a fourth-year medical student at the University of Juba was arrested on Sunday in Rock City.

 While giving updates to the media on the issue in Juba on Monday afternoon, Inspector General of Police, General Majak Akech said Lokiri is a relative to the three sisters and was found in the possession of what police is calling “incriminating evidence.”

 General Akech said that the other 16 suspects who were being held have been released and will be called on, if need be, to help with investigations.

 The Inspector-General of Police added that the suspect will be arraigned in court to answer for the crime.

“…he [Babu] legally confessed and we have all the evidence together with the tools used for the killing,” said Gen. Akech.

He, however, could not explain what reasons the suspect gave for killing the little children, leaving it for the courts to determine the motive

“We have identified the person responsible for the killing of the three little children in Rock City and he is now in police custody. He legally confessed to the killings, and we have all the evidence, including the tools he used to commit the crime,” Gen. Akech said adding that the killer is a South Sudanese from Kajo-Keji from the same tribe of Kuku, and a close relative of the family.

“We made a lot of efforts to identify the person who committed this very shocking crime which angered our people, and we want to say sorry to our people for this unfortunate incident meted on the little children who are angels. They didn’t deserve to be killed, but the responsible person has been identified.”

The girls aged 9, 7, and 4 years were murdered in cold blood at their home in Rock City on the 1st of August.
