Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week in the Christian calendar, commemorating Jesus Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem, just days before his crucifixion and resurrection. It is a significant day for Christians worldwide, particularly in the Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant traditions.
Fr. Elia Kanido Alfred Zomai celebrated the feast of Palm Sunday yesterday with his Christians at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish Tindoka Yambio under the theme that Christ Jesus gave up Himself to save us from our sins.
In his homily, he encouraged the parishioners to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ by dedicating themselves to the growth and service of the parish, as well as reaching out to vulnerable members of society, reflecting the essence of Christian faith in action.
“I encourage Christians at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish Tindoka Yambio to follow the same footsteps of Jesus Christ by giving their life to help their new parish grow up, to save others who are indeed, vulnerable people, orphans, widows, small children as well elderly people
Many Christians turned up for the celebration of Palm Sunday as a sign of self-giving, and sacrifice and meditated on the suffering of Christ for our sins”.
He also reminded Christians that they are called to be kings in their respective spheres of influence, whether at work, home or within themselves, underscoring the notion of living out one's faith in every aspect of life.
“All Christians are kings in their various places of work or homes”.
May the spirit of Palm Sunday continue to inspire and guide the community of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish Tindoka Yambio as they journey through Holy Week and beyond, embodying the love and sacrifice of Christ in their lives
