Angela Abraham once said Death is the gateway to rebirth, and at someone beloved passes through, we both mourn and celebrate. We feel their loss in our life and community, yet we celebrate all that they achieved in their lifetime for goodness, for love, for the natural world, for humanity. It is a time when we are most aware of how sacred living is and to appreciate the gift all the more.

In the past one week, CDTY has lost a number of its members including Marie of Missio Austaria who died on 29/10/2022, Hon Tambua and Hon Barikpio Tombura and Mama Angelina. On behalf of the CDTY, Bishop Eduardo sent sincere sympathy for the pass of their beloved friends.

On the part of Marie, the prelate described her as one who was dear to them “Marie is dear to us in so many ways, for her work has always focused on South Sudan and more especially in my Diocese, he narrated, she survived death in 2013, upon her first arrival in Juba on the eve of the civil war in the country, Bishop continued, Marie still kept South Sudan at heart. For years she has been battling with cancer but in all these Marie remained loving and caring.

The local ordinary of CDTY acknowledged tremendous works done by Fr. Avelino the parish priest of Ave Maria parish who happen to be cousin to Marie.

On the other hand, Christians of CDTY and Bishop Eduardo lamented over the death of Hon. Tambua and Hon. Barikpio Tombura that they have lost “Catholic role models”

“The Church people of CDTY and Bishop Hiiboro say they have lost a “Catholic role models” in the death of Hon Tambua and Hon Barikpio Tombura”.

“More than good politicians, they were like a good Christian role model who never compromised their Christian values even at worst scenarios,” Bishop explains.

According to Bishop Kussala, Hon. Veronica and Hon. Tambua were “very honest politicians, approachable, well respected, always available and never arrogant.”

He also noted that “Hon. Veronica and Hon. Tambua were liked not only by their party leaders but also by their rivals in political field who admired their simplicity and non-controversial approaches.”

Bishop Eduardo recalled that Hon. Tambua and Hon. Tombura “were catalyst when CDTY was celebrating her 100 years centenary of Catholic Faith.”

For Hon. Alfred Riruyo, a Catholic lay leader and a politician, shared with RURUGENE that he has been inspired by Tambua and Barikpio’ humility and simplicity saying “I have never seen any of them arrogant and angry, but always kept a serine smile as their trade mark,” Hon. Alfred Riruyo said.

Hon. Christine Mokorondere, a member of State legislative Assembly, also described Hon. Tambua and Hon. Barikpio as “very friendly people and ever ready to help.”

Mama Angelina who also passed in Yambio was eulogized as a good mother, “may your soul rest in eternal peace we are really going to miss you and your good services as choir member, a good mother and the Best cook in the seminary”.

“May God bless them with Eternal life, courage for their families, hope for their state, determination for their constituents and love and peace to their diocese and nation, Amen! RIP great children of CDTY, says Bishop Kussala”.
