From Humble Chapel to Flourishing Parish: The Inspiring Journey of St. John the Baptist Catholic Quasi Parish, Tindoka

In the heart of the Nambianzia region, a small chapel emerged in 1980, marking the inception of a spiritual journey that would later flourish into the vibrant community known today as St. John the Baptist Catholic Quasi Parish, Tindoka. Guided by the steadfast leadership of the first catechist, Edwardo Juma, this chapel laid the initial foundations for the blossoming faith community.

The transition to Tindoka in 1981 saw John Bie assuming the role of lead catechist, steering the spiritual through the early years. The celebration of Holy Mass, a pivotal moment in the community's history, was graced by the presence of Fr. Francis Ragozere Wandu, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Tindoka.

Tindoka, initially functioning as a center, found itself reverting to its chapel status for a few years due to its proximity to St. Mary Catholic Parish Yambio. Despite this, the significance of Tindoka continued to grow, earning it the status of a quasi-parish.

The defining moment for Tindoka came on the 15th of September 2022, during the Anniversary of Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite. In a grand celebration, the community was officially declared St. John the Baptist Catholic Quasi Parish. This significant elevation was a testament to the unwavering faith and dedication of the community, marking a new era in their spiritual journey.

Bishop Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala appointed the first priest, Rev. Fr. Mathew Zaume, to shepherd the newly formed quasi-parish. However, Fr. Zaume's tenure was short-lived as he was soon called for further studies. Stepping into his shoes was Rev. Fr. Elia Kanido Alfred Zomai, who diligently served the community, witnessing its growth and development.

The pivotal moment in the parish's history arrived on the 15th of September 2023, when Barani Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala, the Bishop of CDTY, officially announced Tindoka as a full-fledged parish. Fr. Elia Kanido Alfred Zomai was designated as the first Priest In-Charge, entrusted with the spiritual well-being of the growing congregation.

As of the latest available information, the parish is blessed with a team of dedicated catechists. Moses Bako, serving as the Head Catechist, leads the spiritual guidance, while Christopher Simon, the Vice Head Catechist, focuses on catechism instruction for the first Holy Communion and Confirmation. Francise Bate, Kanido Kumbabeyo, and John Forldinalndo also contributed significantly to the religious education and spiritual formation within the parish.
