Blessing of the Generator and New Programming Launch
It was pomp and colour at Anisa FM Radio on July 1st, during the blessing of the new station generator while at the same time launching the new radio program schedule.
The celebration was preceded by Eucharistic celebrations led by the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio Rev. Fr. Thomas, co-celebrated by Anisa Radio Chaplain Rev. Fr. John Medeni and attended by friends, listeners and staff of Anisa Radio.
The new generator was donated by the World Family of Radio Maria through extensive partnership facilitation by Rt. Rev. Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio.
The generator is a sigh of relief after a long period of power challenges at the station following serious mechanical damages caused to the old generator after it was hit by thunder mid last year.
His Lordship however managed to source for partnership with Radio Maria fraternity and the first fruits of the relationship is a generator that will go a long way to service the station with stable power.
The availability of power will also upgrade the radio from 8 hours daily broadcast to 18 hours a day. This is a great milestone that will see the radio widen the content and offer the audience content that cuts across various fields of information.
Speaking during the celebration of the Holy mass, the Vicar General thanked His Lordship for always being at the forefront in supporting the diocesan media channels and being passionate on the need to offer the community information through mass media.
"Our Bishop is hardworking and the fruits of that hard work are visible today," the vicar said.
He called upon the radio staff to promote the values of teamwork, unity, respect, hard work and passion in their effort and be the change that the radio yearns for. The vicar thanked the partners for making the dream of a stable power a reality.
Speaking remotely through an online call from Nairobi, Bishop Hiiboro thanked the world Family of radio Maria for the great gift of the generator which will help Anisa not only operate for more hours but also widen its content variety to cover the needs of majority of the community.
His Lordship called upon the staff to work together as a team to realize the mission and the vision of the radio.
"Challenges will be there but it’s through your perseverance that you will make our radio great and history will remember you as part of the great change that ever happened in our radio" His Lordship added.
Speaking at the same event, the radio chaplain, Fr John Medeni while thanking the partners and the Bishop called upon the listeners to be pillars that the radio can stand on.
The Acting Director, Ms Triza wairegi thanked all who made the day possible especially the Bishop who has walked the journey with the radio through thick and thin. She thanked the former directors for being foundation stones under which Anisa continues to stand.
Anisa Radio program manager called for teamwork and passion as she thanked the staff and the listeners for their determination and sacrifices that make the radio thrive.
She promised that more enticing content are on the way that will make Anisa a force to reckon with.
The staff representatives Mr. Waure and Miss Bena called upon their colleagues to work hard and be the great change that will make Anisa competitive.
The regular caller’s representatives Mr. Sultan and Miss Abuku called upon the administration to make the club stronger and work together to achieve the radio objectives.
Anisa Radio is the radio of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio Broadcasting under the motto "The Voice of Truth and Peace." The radio has been operational since 2013 but natural causes like thunder has always caused mechanical faults to the generator and the transmitter at times rendering the radio off air.
The diocese has two more FM radios with one covering the Maridi and the other covering the Tambura. The radio has an audience of over 250,000 and plans are underway for expansion to nationwide coverage.
Anisa Currently has 12 staff working to ensure the listener is informed with factual, truthful and timely information
