Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio forms Diocesan Finance Council

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio has formed a Diocesan finance council with main task of preparing the annual Diocesan budget, annual financial report, providing oversight of the finance office and to assist the Bishop in an advisory capacity on temporal affairs.  

During the meeting, Fr. Anthony Bangoye was appointed as the chairperson of the Diocesan finance council, deputized by Sr. Jacinta Habiba, and Fr. Mathew Zaume as the secretary of the council.

From the Statutes of the First Diocesan Synod of the Diocese shared with Anisa FM, shows that the formation of the Diocesan finance council is in accordance with Canon Law (canons 492-494); that says any Catholic Diocese should have Diocesan finance council. “The council serves to strengthen accountability and ensure that good financial practices are in place and followed”, the statement reads.

According to the document, annually, the Diocesan Bishop present a statement of income and expenses as well balance sheet to the Diocesan finance council for all entities under the sponsorship of the ordinary after the close of the fiscal year. At the end of the Diocesan’s fiscal period, the Diocesan finance council will review the Diocesan’s audited financial statements with independent auditor.

Members to the council include four fathers namely; Fr. Charles Mbikoyo, Fr.Abel Tindi, Mr. Gabriel Inyasio and Fr. Darios Cosmas. Others include Rev. Br. Delto, the Vicar general Chancellor, Hon Darios Cosmas and Mr. Dominic Nduayo the finance manager.

 

Members of the Diocesan finance council are appointed for a five year term and are also subject to renewal.
