Bishop Hiiboro addressed the students during his pastoral visit to Corpus Christi Eastern Deanery, where he visited the diocesan learning institutions including kindergartens, primary school, and secondary school. He encouraged the students to work extra hard and not waste the opportunity they currently have.

During his visit to Don Bosco secondary school, the Bishop reminded the students that there are millions of young South Sudanese who are not lucky enough to have opportunities for better education; he, therefore, urged them not to waste this opportunity that they have but to utilize it properly so that it can make a difference in their future life and the lives of their family members and the community at large.

He told them that as the Church endeavors to have a good institution for learning, it is now upon the students to be hardworking, committed, and serious about their studies so that they can be able to fulfill and complement the absence of those millions of South Sudanese children who are not able to learn.

“You have this opportunity to study in such a good institution must be ambassadors to yourselves, to your fellow young people, and to all the people in South Sudan,” he urged the students adding that being a representative and ambassador is a serious job that requires commitment, honesty, and integrity in order to represent another person. “You here are representing your fellow children who are unfortunate, who have no chance, who are doomed to suffer for a very long time; you, therefore, must double your efforts to fill the gap which is there because of these millions of unfortunate children.”

The Bishop urged the students to be more serious with their studies, put in a lot of effort, be creative, be kind and be gentle because these qualities will help them to be ambassadors on behalf of those millions of children who have not been able to go to school.

“It is a great opportunity for you to be in school so always tell people that you have a serious responsibility, you not here to play because you representing millions of South Sudanese children who are not fortunate enough like you to be in school; therefore you not here to waste this chance. You have to work hard so that you can become successful in the future and be able to open opportunities for the less fortunate fellow South Sudanese who did not have a chance to study so that they can have a second chance in life."

The Bishop thanked the students for being in school, he thanked their parents for accepting the appeal to let their children go to school.

During the same occasion, Bishop Hiiboro thanked the Salesians of Don Bosco Missionaries who are working in the parish as well as the Visitation Sisters of Don Bosco. He appreciated their work together with all the teachers and assured them of his support.
