St. George General Mechanics Workshop Re - opens

The administration of St. George general mechanic workshop has reopened on Wednesday 9, November 2022, in Yambio town, western Equatoria state.

The garage, is an investment wing of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio, established to render multiples of mechanical services for vehicles, motorcycles and bicycles, in turn act as source of income generating activity to finance some of the Church activities.

It used to be one of the powerful mechanics’ workshops in town rendering car repair and other mechanical services.

Speaking at the launch of the Garage, His lordship Barani Hiiboro Kussala, the Bishop of CDTY, noted that “reopening the Garage is a revival of the missionary work who established mechanical workshop at the Diocese couples of decades ago.”

The prelate added, “the Garage will not only help repair cars but will be a center for young people to acquire mechanical skills and be self-reliant.

On his part, the director of CODEP, Rev. Fr. Charles Mbikoyo said, “St. George general mechanics workshop had rendered lots of services to the public in Yambio before it stopped operation early last year, he continued, the reopening of the Garage is due to public demand, therefore, the mechanics’ workshop will respond to the need of people experiencing mechanical problems with their mobility.

St. George general mechanics is located in Curia. The garage will operate under the license of DIDA under CODEP and it will also be a place of training drivers with no skills in mechanical services to enable them response to mechanical problems that’s comes in the line of their duty as drivers
