Western Equatoria State fire brigade officers in Yambio have embarked on refresher training according to Con. Henry Males Louis the director of the fire brigade in the state capital Yambio.!!

He said over 150 fire brigade officers who have embarked on a refresher training in the office of fire brigade are not new members but old members of the fire brigade who are on the payroll of the state government.

Males added that the reason for training is to adopt the bylaws of the civil defense and discipline them on how they can treat citizens of the state without any problem citing that this refresher training will make them do their work effectively and efficiently.

He confirmed to Anisa Radio that there has been no report of a fire outbreak compared to 2022 and 2023 as a result of the awareness created by his office and other stakeholders to reduce the burning of places.

Con. Henry continued “We need to take care of our things even the market, we have a lot that needs safety, we also have a bank in the market that is Kush bank that needs our protection as traders and with this, we shall be better people.”

He further said that the UN organization and civil society organizations should be serious about supporting the government during the fire outbreak to help the victims.

He also confirmed that they have developed a strategy for 2024-2025 to share with the community leaders and church leaders to prevent and pass the messages to the community on how they can maintain the safety of their resources and the community at large.
