Catholic Bishop and Youth Ride Bicycles to Raise Awareness on Covid-19
Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio, Barani Eduardo Hiiboro together with youths from the diocese took to bicycle riding competition as part of Easter Celebrations in an event that was meant to create awareness on Covid-19 severity in a bid to encourage residents to take seriously the preventive measures stipulated by the Ministry of Health.
The celebrations which took place on Easter Monday also attracted the participation of some government officials as well as prominent people from the area. The theme of the celebrations was “Bishop Kussala with young people on biking awareness on prevention for the Covid19”.
Speaking to the young people at the beginning of the event, His Lordship Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala encouraged the young people to create more awareness by spread news about the realities of the pandemic which is already within the communities. This is in a bid to encourage people to take the matter seriously and adhere to preventive measures in order to avoid contracting and spreading the virus.
The Bishop expressed that through bike riding completion the message about Corona Virus will spread far and wide, and soon to all the people across the State.
Barani Hiiboro further also underscored the importance of Easter saying that people should take the advantage of the day (Easter Monday) which being a holiday to engage in physical exercise (bike riding) to improve their health.
The Bishop also encouraged the young people not to easily forget their past heritage such as bike riding which is indeed very popular in Western countries where people have ditched the cars and opted to cycle which is very safe for the environment and is also a physical exercise.
