Women and Family Department Conducts training for Women on Covid 19 Dangers and Protection Measures

The Department of Women and Family in the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio on February 9, 2021 trained women on the dangers and protective measures for Covid 19 Pandemic. The department chose women as the beneficiary for the training because their roles in the family and communities are vital.

Fr. Thomas Bagbiowia, the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio in his in his remark at the commencement of the training told the women to unite in action and planning to fight the deadly Corona Virus which is currently ravaging the world, South Sudan not exempted. He further said that women should take great precautions towards protecting themselves and their families as they play a very crucial role in the family.

“People should do three important things during this Corona Virus pandemic; that is Pray, fast and protect themselves because the God who created you cannot save you without you putting efforts to help yourself,” Fr. Thomas expressed.

Corona Virus is really and it kills; a disease the Vicar General termed as “evil disease’’ because of its contagious nature and the negative impact it has on human beings.

“The Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio is standing firm and abides by the protective measures issued by the South Sudan National Ministry of Health. It is under that context that we as a diocese operates while praying and seeking God’s intervention to an end of the pandemic,” Fr. Thomas said.

Mrs. Annie Michael, the Coordinator of Women and Family Department at the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio said that during the pandemic and lockdown associated with it, her office has been training women at grassroots on crop productions, Counselling, catering among others.

The department’s activities are funded by the War Child Organization which is known to supports most war widows, orphans, disables among others.
