A midwife at Yambio hospital is calling upon pregnant women to attend what she termed as health education in order for them to have knowledge on how to handle and take care of their unborn babies especially how to maintain the hygiene of the baby when born.

Mrs. Celina Mario a midwife with 10 years of experience in midwifery said that she often come across scenarios where young mothers have a big problem when it comes to how to handle their young babies, especially in maintaining their personal hygiene, and even how to breastfeed among others.

She says that young girls who get pregnant when they are underage are the most affected because they don’t have motherhood capabilities of handling newborn babies whenever they deliver.

Last month to as of Tuesday July 21, 2020 Yambio hospital recorded an estimated number of 298 new born babies, Mrs. Celina however did not disclose the number of underage girls giving birth.
