SHWDO GBV officer madam Roseline Aniongo has said that sexual harassment cases are on the increase in Western Equatoria State because parents have failed to take part in the lives of their children.

Speaking on Anisa radio during comfort zone program, madam Aniongo said that parents are allowing their daughters to dress in miniskirts which attracts men while boys pull down their trousers famously known as “sagging." This is something that is viewed as abnormal among a community that is quite reserved and where women are expected to be well covered.

She added that in some occasions, school girls engage in sexual activities with their teachers in order for them to be given good marks in their exams.

Sexual harassment is a type of harassment involving the use of explicit or implicit sexual overtones, including unwelcoming promise of rewards in exchange for sexual favors.
