Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala the Bishop of CDTY, with delegates from Curia, visited Yambio State Hospital on 16th, Nov 2022.

According to Bishop Eduardo, the solidarity visit to Yambio State Hospital was to encourage the staff over the challenges they have been undergoing, “we made the solidarity visit to this hospital in order to encourage them over the challenges they have been facing for a period of time” the bishop said.

The prelate also shared that during the civil war, the Yambio State Hospital was managed by CDTY until 2010 when it was handed over to be State Hospital, during their visit, they realized that the Hospital is facing challenges even though the hospital has human resources who are eager to work.

“The challenges include; lack of drugs, the issue of power or lack of fuel to run the generator to keep the apparatus functioning, lack of motivation for staff, insecurity since those who fail to get services from the hospital become aggressive while others are just walking within the compound with guns”.

Bishop Eduardo explained that they were able to encourage them to continue with their work and at the same time they called upon the public to support the hospital since the hospital is open and working.

“What we concluded is that we need to raise this to the public to support this hospital, the hospital is open, its working, and the staff are present, so need to help them and support them with medicine, fuel for the generator, and to see the possibility for motivation of staff, we need as a community to own the hospital, it’s ours and we can only take care of it.

In conclusion, they called upon the donor agencies to “build on the capacity of the institution to run by itself and not that when they withdraw things collapse behind”.
