The deputy governor of western Equatoria state Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko Baime on Friday the 27th, January 2023 called on the donors to support the local community-based organizations operating in the state for direct service to the community.

Speaking during the launching of the state national covid-19 vaccine in the western Equatoria state capital-Yambio, Deputy governor Dr. Kennedy congratulated the state government through the ministry of health and the immunizations team for working hand in hand for the life of western equatorial people.

He further said people from outside have now known the other side of the coin of western Equatoria state government which is peace, unity, and working together as leaders for service delivery to the community not what people had been hearing about the state government.

Finally, he lauded the partners, national ministry, and state ministry of health for sending health supervisors to all the ten counties of the state, citing that Western Equatoria is having ten counties and 48 params so partners should not only focus on Yambio central Payam.

On the other hand, the state minister of health Hon. James abdullai thanks the partners in supporting the health sector in western Equatoria such as World Vision, CMMB, and WHO among others for putting the community of this great state into their heart and through that western Equatoria had been ranked at number three with basic health services.

Hon Abdullai called on the community to turn up and get their jams and booster vaccination for covid-19 which will run for seven days only.

On behalf of the partners supporting health in the state Madam Lucy from UNICEF appreciated the effort of the state government for standing farms since when South Sudan reported its first case of covid-19 till now.

“As partners we have trained so many community volunteers across WES who are helping in by creating awareness about covid-19 at the grassroots”.

The vaccination is accepted to run for 7 days and the targeted groups are the youth and elderly people.
