Bishop Hiiboro launches the construction of feeder roads.

The initiative to construct the feeder roads came from the Christian community and faithful in the Western Deanery who felt compelled to do something after witnessing the kind of suffering residents especially the sick and the vulnerable often go through in their quest to access essential services. They mobilized themselves and decided to do the work by themselves.

Bishop Hiiboro expressed his delight to be part of the activity and appealed to all partners and well-wishers to support the initiative.

Speaking during the occasion, Barani Hiiboro said that the diocese fully supports the initiative, which is meant to ease accessibility and reach out to Christians at the grassroots levels. He therefore encouraged more Christians to take such initiatives which are geared towards improving the welfare of the communities The Bishop explained that owing to the current bad state of road network within the region, it has been difficult to access at least eleven parishes in the diocese as the roads becomes completely impassable especially during the rainy seasons.

The Bishop reiterated that his diocese has chosen the year 2021 for work, using the theme, Bible in the other hand and the hoe in the other hand. He expressed that South Sudanese can only develop themselves through hard work despite the conflicts and catastrophe the country has and is still going through.

Bishop Hiiboro further explained that once the constructions of the feeder roads are completed, it will

enable residents to move with ease. For instance, expectant mothers, the sick and elderly people will be able to easily access better facilities for the services they require on good time. This the bishop said that this is in line with the vision of late Dr. John Garang who was so diplomatic in nature and a visionary leader in the SPLM\A.

Meanwhile, Bishop Hiiboro advised the young people in South Sudan to be proactive in engaging in constructive activities for their wellbeing and for the welfare of the society at large rather than wasting time getting involved in communal conflicts which always results to loss of human life.

Rev.Fr Avellino a missionary priest who is in charge of Ave Maria Catholic Parish Ngboko in the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio welcomed the move by the Bishop saying that it has been very difficult for him to move around the parish’s jurisdiction to offer services to the Christians especially during the rainy season.

The priest expressed that he has witnessed the challenges his parishioners and the community at large go through due to bad road network in the area. The rainy seasons are the worse when parishioners are forced to miss out on the celebrations of Holy Mass as they get cut off completely from the main parish when the roads become impassible.

The Christians community and the community leaders at the different sites where the Bishop lead the launch of road construction works welcomed the initiative saying that construction of the roads will certainly pave way for development to prevail in the areas.
