The Bishop Hiiboro Makes Pastoral Visit to Eastern Deanery after Two Years of Absence
Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio Barani Eduardo Hiiboro has finally managed to make a pastoral visit to the Corpus Christy Eastern Deanery after two years of not being able to do so. The four-day visit was a moment of joy and celebrations as the Bishop visited various institutions of the diocese and parishes of the deanery.
In 2019, Bishop Hiiboro fell ill and spent the better part of his time in Nairobi Kenya as he undergoes treatment hence his inability to visit the deanery; in 2020, the Corona Virus pandemic resulted to lock down hence very minimal movements, therefore Bishop could not make any pastoral visits.
The visit to the Eastern Deanery was meant for the five parishes under it; these included Our Lady of Fatima Maridi, St. Don Bosco Parish Manguo, St. Michael Catholic Mission Ras'Olo, St. Monica Catholic Mission Bahr'Olo, and St. Lucy Catholic Mission Mambe.
The visit was basically to provide pastoral leadership in the area, to encourage Christian communities in their spiritual life, to revitalize their relationships to their faith and to their church, and to awaken in them their spiritual and pastoral obligations.
This went down well through the celebrations of Holy Masses that the Bishop led in the deanery.
During the visit, the Bishop was able to realize four major activities. These included encouraging and strengthening the priests, pastoral vicars in the area, the different community leaders; focusing on children and young people as he had set apart aside to specifically address the children and the young people.
The Bishop also paid attention to the revival of the radio station in Maridi, which has been closed, so it was a moment for him to reopen it and encourage and strengthen the administration of the radio station in Maridi. While at it, he was also able to carry out a groundbreaking ceremony as he launched the construction of one primary school, one kindergarten, and the construction of priests’ house. This was indeed a blessing that brought a lot of joy to the people in the area.
The Bishop’s Pastoral visit which was a great success concluded with his return to the curia of the diocese.
