“Plant Sufficient Edible Fruits” Bishop Eduardo Urges the People of Tombura-Yambio

By Baraka and Bernadetta

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala urges the people in his Diocese and in western Equatorial state  to plant sufficient edible fruits that feed the body with enough vitamins and provide surplus to fight away the economic crisis and poverty in the state and South Sudan at large.

The local ordinary said that “it is of great importance to practice cultivation because it provides an environment for plants (including food crops and timber wood) to grow in, to improve root access to soil nutrients and moisture and to improve the quality of planting”.

He called upon the Christians to make proper use of the free gift of land that God gave to them by planting any type of crop that can generate income for the family and for consumption e.g. vegetables, fruits like bananas, guavas among others.

On his visit to SARD (Sustainable Agricultural for Rural Development) Institute, Bishop Eduardo encouraged the trainees to have agricultural projects at their homes that will sustain them and their families.

He also reminded the tutors and trainees of SARD Institute that they need to bring into reality what God had done; “we need to bring into reality what God had done before, God before creating all of us, he made a garden, first work of creation was the environment, the material world, the food we eat, He made that first before we came and that’s what we are also invited to do by taking care of the environment through tilling by cooperating with God”.
