Swate Sebit is a 21 year old lady who lost both her parents at a tender age is now learning both mechanical work and driving as a way to earn a living and care for her younger sisters and brothers who depends on her.

Swate Sebit who is the first born in the family, completed senior four in 2020, has faced it very hard to pursue her university course due to funding and the burden of caring for her younger siblings paying their school fees.

Swate says, the little business she does to care for her younger ones could not help a lot, therefore  she opted to go for both mechanical and driving course, which she believe will  help her get reasonable money to plan for her university studies and to take care of her siblings in a better way.

“This mechanical work will help me in the future; I am now three month in training, am able to operate a vehicle now. I lost my mother even my father, so no one can take care of my University fees, that’s why am learning this job, I cannot join the university because  my siblings will suffer if I leave them”, Swate stated.

Swate has encouraged fellow girls and young ladies to involve themselves in any kind work that generate money to sustain their lives and stop expecting everything on silver plate.

“For ladies they just like soft soft things, they just wont to work in the office and hate to do hard work. This mechanical work can help me get job in big organizations”.

Female mechanics and drivers are rear to be found in Yambio or Western Equatoria State, this is duty stereotype embedded in women that driving and mechanical work are only for men.
