The Catholic Annual Diocesan General Assembly kicked off on Monday 22 January 2023 at Palica in Nzara County, under the theme “Planning, working and growing together”.
The three-day assembly brought about 100 to participants from the thirty-five parishes under the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio, to deliberate on the achievements, and challenges, and to develop new plans for the growth of the Diocese.
Speaking at the opening remarks, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio His lordship Barani Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala, says the assembly is an annual Diocesan program that examines the progress of the Diocese in terms of growing and planning together for the spiritual and social growth in the Diocese.
“The annual assembly is meant to stalk what we have been doing, it is a moment in which the whole diocese structure administration come together to pray, to re-think their direction, is a kind of a retreat, it is a moment where we look at some of the things that we do, share different the success stories with one another, high light the constraints and then we look for the way forward”, he explained.
In a message shared through WhatsApp, bishop Eduardo said that “this assembly discussion is to make the administration of CDTY more effective, resource mobilization and management of resources rightly and effectively through a split of accountability and transparency”.
They discussed different themes like environment, the spirit of Synodality, peace, education, and health among others
Bishop Hiiboro added that the general assembly helps the Diocese to move forward through ideas the participants will raise, and look at areas that need more intervention from the church in its planning.
