The Speaker of the South Sudan National Transitional Assembly, on Friday, paid a courtesy visit to hundreds of parishioners from the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio who sheltered at St John primary school for the long-awaited pilgrimage of Pope France.
While addressing the Parishioners, Speaker Jemma Nunu Kumba described the pilgrimage as a new dawn for peace, unity, and stability in the Republic of South Sudan, calling on the Country’s citizens to embrace unity and one another through the visit of the Holy father.
During her visit, Speaker Kumba donated 500,000ssp to help the parishioners cater to their needs while attending the historical Masses expected to be conducted by Pope Francis on Saturday and Sunday.
Close to four hundred parishioners from the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio arrived in Juba on Wednesday to join the rest of the Christian community to join the Holy Father in prayers for peace.
Pope Francis left the Democratic Republic of Congo in the afternoon and landed in Juba at 4:00 pm central African time where thousands of South Sudanese lined up a long Airport Road to give a warm welcome to the Holy Father and was driven to the presidential Palace for a short briefing before heading to rest.
According to a program lineup, Pope Francis will conduct the first mass on Saturday 4th Feb 2023 at Dr. John Garang Memorial Museum from mid-day to 6 pm, and on Sunday the Holy Father is also expected to celebrate Holy mass at Dr. John Garang Memorial Museum from 8:45 am to mid-day.
